Albert Mascaux

Albert Mascaux (Courcelles 1900 - Charleroi 1963) was a landscape painter influenced by impressionism.

Friends with Louis Clesse and René De Pauw. He received lessons from Philibert Cockx.

His popular subjects are picturesque views of the North Sea, but above all the landscapes of the Ardennes.

His style is realistic with a controlled color palette, in which the lush yet discreet shades of gray appear.

Price of Hainaut (1946). Retrospective in the Town Hall of Courcelles (1966).

Museums: Tournai, Charleroi, Namur, La Louvière, Buenos Aires, Montevideo. His works are part of the collection of the Belgian state and the province of Hainaut. In the castle of Trazegnies a larger collection of his paintings can be visited.
