Mécislas De Rakowski
Mécislas De Rakowski (1882-1947) is one of the many Polish painters who lived and worked in Belgium.
He received his education in Kraków, Munich, Florence and Paris, before moving to Jambes/Belgium in 1920, where he lived until his death.
He had exhibitions in Liège (1928), Brussels (1932) and Namur (1943).
Rakowski was primarily a landscape painter (the Meuse Valley, the streets and hills of Namur), but he also painted portraits, still lifes and interiors.
In 1948 Rakowski was given a posthumous exhibition. The city of Namur is in possession of several works.
