Mecislas de RAKOWSKI (1882-1947), House on the pond, 1925

Mécislas De Rakowski is one of the many Polish painters who lived and worked in Belgium. He received his education in Kraków, Munich, Florence and Paris, before moving to Jambes/Belgium in 1920, where he lived until his death.

He had exhibitions in Liège (1928), Brussels (1932) and Namur (1943).

Rakowski was primarily a landscape painter (the Meuse Valley, the streets and hills of Namur), but he also painted portraits, still lifes and interiors.

In 1948 Rakowski was given a posthumous exhibition. The city of Namur is in possession of several works.
