Philipp Rosenthal founded his porcelain factory in 1879. Towards the end of the 19th century, he moved the factory from Werl to Selb in Bavaria. The company Bauer, Rosenthal & Co. was founded in Kronach in 1897.
In 1934, Philipp Rosenthal had to withdraw from the company because of his Jewish ancestry. He died in 1937.
Since 2009, Rosenthal GmbH has been an independent company of the Arcturus Group. Production continues in Selb.
