Félicien Rops began as a cartoonist and illustrator. His stay in the Paris artist and prostitute milieu have had a lasting impact on his work. Eroticism and sexuality are his themes. Sexuality should not shock: It is part of life, of nature ... 

Among his most famous drawings is the "Lady with the Pig - Pornocrates" (1879). Félicien Rop's talent is also evident in his lithographs, etchings and reproductions (heliogravures).

His native Namur has dedicated his own museum to him. His works are an integral part of numerous other museums.
